Richard and Rosemary Horne, both from Wisconsin, moved to La Puente in 1963. Richard graduated from Marquette University, majoring in English and Journalism, he worked at the newspaper in Wausau, Wisconsin and in Gilbert, Arizona before moving to California. In California, Richard went to work for State Farm Insurance and Rosemary worked for L.A. County as an intake clerk.
